Protip from my kitchen to yours:

meloukhia:

A pan that has been sitting in a 450 degree F oven for a while will be EXTREMELY HOT. They have invented these things called ‘oven mitts’ for situations like this.

Use them.

(Unrelated: It is important to thoroughly cool a burn under cold running water for several minutes to stop tissue damage. Packs of frozen peas or corn also work very well as cold compresses.)

This protip reminds me of the time I reached into my oven to remove the quiche I made, burned part of my left arm, and then a week later did the exact same thing to my right arm in the EXACT SAME PLACE. In which case I recommend cooking in long sleeves, made out of the stuff firefighters’ coats are made from.
